All things Pugs...

Seems like my crazy little Pugs are always up to something, they have been keeping us busy this last week.
a

Winnie, my little paper shredder, helping me with the bills.
a

Little cave dweller Lucy finds a warm spot in some freshly washed sheets.
a

The warden Franklin, such a gentle handsome fella.
a

You wouldn't believe how fuzzy 3 little Pugs are! They are shedding their winter coat so I have been furminating them every week. Also, poor Winston is having another hot spot breakout on his face, the fun never ends.

More Antiques

On my quest to locate Jadeite dishes, I visited another antique store today. I was solo today as this antique store is massive and Kyle goes crazy waiting for me. I did find some Jadeite dishes but much to my dismay, they are really expensive! Here are some pics from the shop.

Do you see that? Right there...I spotted a doughboy cookie jar! He is a little on the blurry side as my camera was dying as I was taking pictures. I nearly fell over, he is from the 70's and I have attempted in the past to win him on ebay, but I have always been outbid and now here he is, and I can get him without a fightA:-) ANo, I didn't pick him up as I would much rather have some *new* dishes instead of another cookie jar...decisions, decisions. However, I didn't get any dishes today and will talk to Kyle about all this antique stuff firsthand, call me practical, but I can't justify eating off of plates that cost $28 a piece for our everyday dishes.

Ozarks Antiques

Here are some pictures from the antique shop that I visited today. I didn't realize how big it was, two floors and lots of displays! The name is deceiving as not everything is antique, which I guess is ok, but means that I will be checking out another antique shop maybe this weekend in search for some Jadeite dishes.

As soon as I saw these beautiful glasses, I knew that I would be taking them home with me. I waited until I was ready to leave before I went back to the display to pick them up, just to make sure it wasn't a hasty decision, and I am so happy that I got them! They are the color of Yogo Sapphires, aren't they beautiful?!?
*After doing some research I found out that the goblets are Tiffin glass King's Crown in Madeira Blue.*

All things Spring

Yes, it is true, Spring has finally arrived!
a
From my bedroom, I can see new buds on the trees and my yard is finally snow free. I picked up a package of Lillie's and will be potting them for a few weeks before I stick them in the ground, just to make sure that we don't get too chilly at night. This last week we have seen temps in the low 50's and no frost in the morning.
And the Ravens are starting to disappear giving way to Seagulls. This is always a definite sign of spring as the gulls head south during winter and return when the weather warms up, whereas the Ravens head north when the weather is warmer.
We have already tackled cleaning/organizing the garage and front and back decks, it always feels nice to spring clean! I finally got around to picking up some propane for our little grill so we will *hopefully* be grilling this weekend, yummy :-)
a
I plan on taking a trip to a local Antique shop today, I have a couple of things in mind that I am looking for, and I found a new shop that I haven't visited yet. Kyle knows that I can spend HOURS browsing a store so he is ok with me going today while he is at work.
Have you ever seen Jadeite?? I came across these lovely dishes a while back, they were manufactured in the 40's - 60's. I love them due to there beautiful jade color and that they are more portion accurate that today's dishes, and you can even get them in square shapes instead of the traditional round! Not sure what I will find at the Antique shop, but I would be delighted if they had some of these for sale.

I am thankful for...AHHH...you guessed it, my Sweet Loving Handsome Funny Caring HUSBANDa :-)

a
From the kitchen...My army of doughboys standing guard on my counter, I have more just in other spots.

A
I am wearing...Comfy sweater, jeans and my fuzzy socks, we've almost stopped using our heater so it is a bit chilly in the house.

a
I am working on...Cleaning nick-nacks and little things, like this adorable matroyshka set. There is a total of 10 carved wooden dolls that nest inside of each other.
a
I am going...To spritz my little seedlings, seeing new shoots makes me happy.

A
I am reading...
A
I am hoping...That our Anniversary flowers last a while longer, they smell soo good!

A
I am hearing...Music from my cool little radio Kyle got me for Christmas, I love it :-)

A
Around the house...Organizing my craft area, now I am ready to start more projects.
A
One of my favorite things...My entry window, looks like stained glass but is really a window cling that I put up for privacy, I love how it looks when the sun shines in! My little glass floats that come in a variety of green to blue shades, these are antiques and they are found in coastal rural Alaska where they are dug out of the sand.

A
A few plans for the rest of the week...Steam some carpets, clean up the back deck and maybe fire up the grill.

a
Here is picture thought I am sharing...Curious little Lucy, already trying out the lettuce. Lucy turned 4 on the 15th, I love you little luli girl!

Even though the true meaning of Easter is lost in the commercialization of the holiday, I hope that you'll take a moment to remember why we celebrate today.

Little sprouts

I can't believe that its mid, well nearly mid, April, yikes! I started some veggie seeds about a week ago and some of them are well sprouted at this point. I am going to do a whole tray of flowers and will work on getting them started this week. I still need to pick up lobelia seeds, I like to plant them with fuschia in hanging pots, soo pretty!

Its unfortunate that we have such a small yard that I am limited to what I can plant in pots, so a bit of a pain when it comes to veggies/fruits. I did hanging pots of strawberries last year, and when I would take them down to water them, the dogs would pull off the strawberries and eat them :-) Really cute, but meant that we only had a handful of berries for ourselves.

The lettuce seeds have gone crazy, I hope they don't get too big before I can plant them outside!
